Hello Wrestling Families;
Thank you for your patience with us as we worked to find a quality Head Coach for the wrestling program at SRRHS. As always, our priority is to create the best experiences for our student participants and therefore were diligent and spent significant time in identifying some quality candidates.
It is with great pleasure that we are announcing the hiring of our new Head Coach, Cole Wilson (pending final board approval on Sept. 25). Mr. Wilson is a Fairbault High School alumni, an Individual State Runner-Up as a senior at heavyweight. He was a four-year letter winner in wrestling at Southwest Minnesota State University, where he was a 2016 NCAA All-American.
Coach Wilson has been coaching competitively for a few years, and last year served as a St. Cloud State University Wrestling Assistant Coach. He has also coached high school athletes in their off-season and assisted with Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles of wrestling at youth levels. He is a middle school physical education teacher at SRRMS.
Change is exciting and at times, can be a challenge for a program; however, I feel that Coach Wilson is focused on increasing the quality of the student experience and will continue the strong tradition that is Storm Wrestling.
We invite each of you to come meet Coach Wilson on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Career Center at the High School. This is a meet and greet, where Coach Wilson will share his ideals and goals for our program, provide her background information, and answer questions you may have.
